Going into this whole hand lettering process
Already at a young age, I have a love for fonts and making them into different unusual shapes. A few months ago I got a hand lettering book from somebody and I started practicing. I was hooked from the beginning. At the beginning I was just doodling around a but but then I started follow more advanced hand letterers and my fascination started to grow.
My dear hubby asked me to make a label for his newfound hobby, homebrewing. He needed new labels for his bottles. With much enthusiasm I started playing around with fonts and ideas and presented these to my hubby.
I felt quite unsure of how I should start but once I started, it all just flew out of my hand. This is something I would love to do much more often!
This is how the process went:
Not quite as he wants it.
Getting closer! I can start to see the twinkle in his eyes.
Who knew you needed advanced maths for handlettering?
This is it! This is the label that is going to be used for one of Peter’s home-brew beer. It actually turned into a couple project! How awesome! Now we need to figure out how to get them on the bottles and maybe even make a matching bottle cap?!?
Pictures of the labelled beer will be posted when they are actually on the bottles.
