Today I finally finished the Sleep is good quote and I learned another good lesson. There have been quite a bit of lessons these past few weeks! And that is awesome! My brain loves food (as well as the rest of me…).
One of my favourite authors is George R. R. Martin. Although he takes FOREVER to finish a book, I rather enjoyed his book series from the game of thrones. In his book, A Clash of Kings one of his characters, a man from the house Lannisters who is a bit of a trouble maker, Tyrion Lannister, spoke these very words; Sleep is good, books are better.
So today I thought I would focus a bit more on the photography bit. I have my trusted companion, my Canon D550 whom I take more often with me than my own hubby! (Should I be ashamed for this?) I use my camera actually only to take landscape photos and photos of my three adorable monsters. Now I feel like I am playing a total different ball sport! I have to set things up to look nice. Have to really think about how my shot is going to look. How the light falls in and where it falls upon. I do not have a home studio equipment thingie with the nice umbrellas, backdrops and screens so I am totally trying to do everything by creativeness and resources that I find here at home.
Three years ago I bought my tripod (Hama) and I have never actually used it a lot. Actually I have only used it when I first unpacked it and tried it out. I also brought it with me last year to a Scotland vacation. It was standing proud and tall on a mountain, once. So yeah, my tripod has been sitting collecting dust a lot. It is a shame how underappreciated he must feel! But man oh man am I glad I have it now! No more shaky-hands-photos!
This quote actually means a lot to me. I am a rather fat bookworm in the meaning that I have read A LOT of books in my lifetime. We actually have a nice library in this house. I will post a picture of it sometime when I have cleaned it out a bit. I love everything from chick lit to thrillers and when I met my hubby, I even started to read fantasy. So this quote; Sleep is good, books are better, so fits in with my personality. I try to draw quotes which symbolizes who I am or what path I am on at the moment.
So what lesson did I learn you might ask? Well, for starters I really need to start saving to get those fancy umbrellas, screens and backdrops! I am lucky I already have the expensive part, the camera. Also I need to take a few courses in how to take still photos! How to set up the “scenario” and how to get stuff into focus. I should have put the stack of books in a better position to make them a little bit blurry but not so blurry you can not read what the titles are! So yeah, these are things I need to think about in the future. I do however full hearted believe in learning from making mistakes!
